School Description

One of the main aims of this basic course is to give fundamental knowledge about the use of Virtual and Augmented reality technologies in the field of manufacturing. During the school, students will gain knowledge about Industrial Digital Twins in the scope of Industry 4.0. The school focuses on the subject of Digital Twin, its aim, representation concept and design methods.

The course will cover basics questions such as: 'How to build a precise model?' or 'How to simulate your manufacturing line properly?' before moving on to advanced themes on the synchronization of virtual and real-world hardware.

The following issues will be addressed during the course:
1. What are the areas of VR/AR usage? Do these include robotics, logistics, education, and medicine or only gaming?
2. The benefits of using Virtual and Augmented reality technologies in manufacturing.
3. Efficient usage of open-source gaming engines to create industrial solutions.
4. Skill set for solution design.

Moreover, basic software skills will be transferred and executed in a group project with the outcome of viable prototypes in student's chosen field.

Vladimir is the head of the Industrial Virtual and Augmented reality www.ivar.ttu.ee»>lab, researcher and lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech). — He has worked in various engineering and project management positions in different companies within industrial and ICT industries. — Publishes in the field of Digital Twins and VR usage in robotic cells synchronized with hardware. — Estonia region project coordinator EU Horizon2020 Program – L4MS project. — Successfully started and runs a Virtual Reality (VR) games development studio, which also focuses on the education of VR and AR Technologies. — Worked in Italy for www.stiima.cnr.it/it/»>STIIMA-CNR on VR industrial solutions and is still collaborating with the institution. — Member of EuroVR and part of organization team of the EuroVR 2019 conference.
