School Description

The course includes both the technical and business perspectives to show a big picture of the whole aerospace industry. The first part of the course will cover engineering topics such as orbital mechanics, hardware and software, space environment, and communications. The second part will be dedicated to the industry analysis from different perspectives, e.g. Telecommunications, Earth Observation, and Internet of Things. The final part of the course will include a discussion of the current missions and planned future perspectives. The combination of lectures and workshops will allow students to obtain valuable knowledge and develop new skills and competencies. Guest speakers from various fields will share their experience and ideas with students.

At the end of the school students shall deliver a project on a specific space oriented subject.

Daria Stepanova<br>Senior aerospace engineer
Daria is a systems engineer at German Orbital Systems GmbH, PhD student at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in the field of theoretical mechanics, Master of Science in Aerospace engineering and aerospace enthusiast. She has obtained experience in CubeSats development by working on various projects in a startup environment as well as in the university environment in Russia, Switzerland and Germany, where she was responsible for the CubeSat Attitude Determination and Control Systems design, Pointing System for the Laser Communication Terminal and several systems for educational satellites. At German Orbital Systems, she is currently involved in several CubeSat projects and leads the development of the next D-Star mission. Besides that, she is actively participating in the analytical reviews development and aerospace industry analysis.

Natalia holds specialist degree in Biomedical life-support engineering from Moscow Aviation Institute. Currently she pursues her PhD degree in Systems Engineering from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SkolTech). She completed a year-abroad graduate study in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As part of Crew 161 Natalia performed a 2 weeks study in space analogue environment at Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, USA. Natalia’s scientific interest lies in the field of interdisciplinary research associated with human factors engineering, product development and biomedical equipment for different applications.. Natalia is also an Alumni of Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX).
