School Description

One of main characteristics of modern life is rapid development of science and technology. Our products become more complex, and their development cycles become shorter. To be successful in this environment, engineers must have a core competence — the ability to think global. Advanced topics in Modern Engineering is a summer program, which is designed for future engineers. It focuses on technical and soft skills topics necessary for young engineers development.

The course opens with the history of production and an overview of trends in production technology. It also expands on complex products, processes and systems analysis. Invited lecturers from European production industry will provide insights from various industrial projects and project management.

Within the practical part participants are divided into international teams developing a complex engineering project, connected with modern production. The project contains group work, problem solving and a final presentation.

The soft skills block covers the basics of international communications, negotiations and several types of presentation, including elevator pitch presentations, scientific paper writing and research presentations.

The Academic vs. Industrial Career block will provide insights about the career options of young engineer. Participants will learn a profile and characteristics of an "ideal" engineer and explore the opportunities in industry and academia.

Dr. techn. Ilya Kukushkin
Ilya works in one of the leading suppliers of filling and packaging systems in Germany. He developed the ATME course and has taught it since 2014. ‒ He got his PhD in Vienna University of Technology where he worked as a Research Assistant at the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems Group ‒ He spent a half of the year working as an exchange scholar at Boston University/MIT, USA ‒ He worked as reviewer in a number of International scientific journals and organized several scientific symposiums ‒ He worked at DAAAM International Doctoral School as Doctoral School coordinator and Professor (2012-ongoing), supporting the development of doctoral students

Ismail Hachimi

Ismail Hachimi
Ismail works as Production Unit manager at Renault in France, assembling cars as Renault Zoe, Clio IV and Nissan Micra. He had various experiences in project management, quality and lean manufacturing in leading automotive suppliers (Valeo, Faurecia, and JTEKT). Also, he contributed to the success of multiple development projects with automotive OEMs (FCA, Toyota and Peugeot). He got his master engineering degree at the Compiegne University of Technology in Production and Logistics. He is passionate about digitalization innovations and technological developments in automotive industry.
